Sea-Mop trademark guidelines

Oz Venture owns and oversees the Mop, Sea-Mop and Seamop trademark and a family of Mop-formative marks.  These include, but are not limited to Mop®, Sea-Mop®, and related designs (collectively, the “Mop Marks”).

The goal of these guidelines is to guide you in which circumstances you can use certain Mop Marks without seeking pre-approval from us, and which circumstances you cannot.

Our guidelines seek a balance between ensuring that the Mop Marks are used solely to refer to Mop, its affiliated companies and its products and services, while still allowing you to use certain Mop Marks to reference the compatibility of your products with Sea-Mop.

Trademarks indicate the source of goods and services and ensure that consumers are not mislead about the identity of the supplier; while copyright is a legal mechanism allowing the creator of a literary or artistic work (e.g., software code, images) in a tangible form to control who can make subsequent copies of the work.  As an example, in the software world, trademark protects the name of the software while copyright protects the software code.

The details

Use the Mop trademark in plain text, non-stylized format (and not logo format) to:

  • Truthfully and accurately refer to or describe Sea-Mop products and services.
  • Refer to Sea-Mop or Mop in news and articles.
  • Link to our sites.
  • Describe your compatibility with or support for Sea-Mop in certain circumstances.

Unless you have a trademark license with us, do not use the Sea-Mop Marks:

  • In a way that suggests that Oz or Sea-Mop has somehow sponsored, endorsed, or is otherwise affiliated with you or your products or services.
  • In a way that maligns, disparages or tarnishes Oz, Sea-Mop or their products and services, even if your products and services also happen to be compatible with them.
  • In a way that trades on the goodwill of the Sea-Mop Marks.
  • In advertising and marketing materials.

Whenever you use our trademarks, please always follow our guidelines below. We reserve the right to at any time revoke your permission to use the Mop Marks for any reason, including if we determine that the use is likely to confuse others about our involvement with or the source of your product or service or trades on the goodwill of the Mop Marks.

Likewise, if you have an approved use of our logo and have questions about colors, sizing, proportions, etc., please contact us.

Use of the Sea-Mop name to indicate compatibility

You must name your product or service something unique that is dissimilar to and distinguishable from Oz, Mop, Sea-Mop, and the Mop Marks. Use of the Sea-Mop trademark should be used solely to refer to the compatibility of your product, or that you provide support for our products and services.

To denote compatibility, you must:

  • Use your distinctive product name immediately preceding the use of “compatible with Sea-Mop” or “for Sea-Mop.”
  • Never use or incorporate Sea-Mop or any Mop Mark as part of your brand, company, product, service or feature names.
  • Never use or incorporate the Mop Marks as part of your domain names.
  • Never adopt a brand that is confusingly similar to the Mop Marks.

Please see the Examples below for how these rules apply in practice.
